Primanti Bros. Restaurant Murals

Primanti's is a Pittsburgh sandwich shop that has been around since 1933. Almost world famous for their sandwiches that are stacked with meat, cheese, cole slaw, tomato AND french fries, all in the sandwich. In 1992 I was asked to paint on the walls of the original location in the Strip District of Pittsburgh. Local celebrities being the focus of the mural. That one was done with oil paints and brushes, and has been updated a few times over the years. The past years have brought change to Primanti's. The mural has always been a landmark and topic of conversation so they wanted to continue that when they expanded new locations across the United States.  4 years later and 22 stores in 6 states and the murals are still a big deal. Some of them include over 120 people in one mural. But instead of painting each by hand, I had to become more efficient and work them out on the computer and then have them installed like wallpaper. It's worked out quite well. There are always a lot of sports stars but I like working on the more obscure celebrities.
